Welcome to Family Caregiver Path
You’re not alone on this journey
My Story
I know what it feels like to be thrown into caregiving without a roadmap.
When I started caring for my grandmother, I was young, had just graduated, and had no idea what I was getting into. Within months, my finances were stretched thin, my emotions were running high, and I was figuring everything out the hard way — one difficult day at a time.
Nobody handed me a guide. Nobody told me what programs existed, what questions to ask, or how to protect my own wellbeing while showing up for someone I loved. I learned by doing, by struggling, and eventually by finding my footing.
That experience is why Family Caregiver Path exists.
Why I Created This Blog
I created this space for every adult child who is walking the path I once walked — caring for an aging or elderly parent and trying to do it well, even when it feels overwhelming.
Whether you’re navigating finances, managing medical appointments, dealing with resistance from your parent, preventing falls at home, or simply trying not to burn out — I want you to find honest, practical, and compassionate guidance here.
No judgment. No perfect answers. Just real talk from someone who has been in the trenches.
What You’ll Find Here
Every post on this blog is written with one goal: to make your caregiving journey a little easier.
Topics I cover include financial planning and finding assistance programs, home safety and fall prevention, managing cognitive decline with patience and love, encouraging healthy habits and activity, balancing your caregiving role with the rest of your life, and navigating the emotional side of caring for aging parents.
A Note to You
If you’re reading this, you’re already doing something remarkable. Showing up for your parent — even on the hard days — is one of the greatest acts of love there is.
My hope is that this blog becomes a resource you return to, a place that makes you feel less alone, and a reminder that asking for help is not a weakness. It’s wisdom.
You’ve got this. And I’m here to help.
